Redesigning your website while keeping your domain and business email

Plan a website replacement without confusing hosting, domain ownership, DNS and mailboxes.

Four separate pieces

Your domain registration controls ownership and renewal. DNS records tell browsers and email systems where to connect. Website hosting serves pages; an email provider stores and receives mail. These may use different suppliers, even when purchased together.

Moving a website does not require buying a new domain or automatically moving email. First review the current configuration, access rights and renewal arrangements. Do not send passwords through the inquiry form.

Review before replacing

Record the current DNS configuration, old website URLs and essential content. Check whether forms, downloads or external integrations must continue. Agree hosting compatibility and migration work in the written quote; a source-code archive is not universally deployable without setup.

Identify the mail-related MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and preserve them unless an email migration is explicitly planned. Avoid replacing the entire DNS zone or changing nameservers without recreating the records needed by email and other services.

Preview, test and switch

Review the new site in a preview before changing public website records. Check desktop and mobile layouts, internal links, approved content, HTTPS and the contact form. Plan redirects for changed public URLs when appropriate.

Agree the switch with the domain/DNS owner. Keep the previous site available for a practical rollback period where possible. After the switch, check the public site and both incoming and outgoing email. DNS caching, certificate setup and supplier differences mean zero downtime cannot be promised for every migration.

What to confirm with NikaliSoft

Your existing email stays in place unless migration is separately agreed. Business mailboxes and contact-form notification delivery are different services. Domain registration should name you as registrant, with renewal responsibilities agreed in the quote.

A redesign covers the agreed new website, not every external-service migration automatically. Provider configuration, mailbox migration and other extra work are separately quoted.
